Poll: Republican Steve Garvey Leads California Senate Race

Former baseball player Steve Garvey leads the race for U.S. Senate from California ahead of the March 5 primary, beating Rep. Adam Schiff (D), according to the University of California Berkeley Institute of Government Studies poll.

However, the news is not necessarily good for Republicans: if Garvey is one of the top two finishers in the primary, along with Schiff, the heavy Democratic advantage in the state means that Schiff will likely be the next U.S. Senator.

The poll, which was conducted online February 22-27 among thousands of registered and likely voters, has a margin of error of 2% at the 95% confidence level. It shows Garvey with 27%, ahead of Schiff with 25% (a statistical tie for first). Rep. Katie Porter (D-CA) has 19%, while Rep. Barbara Lee (D-CA) has 8%, shaping up the race as a Garvey-Schiff runoff.

(The poll also shows Donald Trump beating Nikki Haley in the state’s Republican primary, 75% to 15%.)

The reason for Garvey’s rise, the Los Angeles Times notes, is not a surge in Republican enthusiasm, but rather a heavy advertising campaign by Schiff, who has cast the race as a contest between two candidates from rival parties, knowing that a Republican candidate will be easier to beat than a Democrat — especially a female Democrat, as all of his main Democratic rivals are women.

Ads have blanketed the state attacking Garvey for voting for Trump and backing other conservative policies — which has rallied Republican voters to Garvey, even while also rallying Democrats to Schiff.

Schiff is best known for leading the efforts to accuse Trump, falsely, of “collusion” with Russia, and to impeach Trump in 2019-2020.

He faces new criticism in Peter Schweizer’s new book Blood Money: Why the Powerful Turn a Blind Eye While China Kills Americans. over his silence over the fentanyl crisis, which may have to do with donors who have “financial connections to individuals involved with criminal networks … tied to money laundering and the drug trade.”

‘Blood Money’: Meet Adam Schiff, Who Looks Away from the Deadly Fentanyl Crisis in His Backyard While Taking Donations from Money Laundering Operators Tied to the Drug Trade

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), who has been strikingly absent from the national fentanyl conversation, has “financial connections to individuals involved with criminal networks in Southern California, many of whom are tied to money laundering and the drug trade,” according to Peter Schweizer’s new book Blood Money: Why the Powerful Turn a Blind Eye While China Kills Americans.

In Blood Money, Schweizer highlights Schiff’s astonishingly empty record regarding the fentanyl crisis before suggesting that the congressman could potentially risk “undue attention to his own financial” ties if he were to address the issue meaningfully.

Schiff, who is running for U.S. Senate, represents California’s 30th Congressional District, which includes Burbank, Hollywood, Glendale, and Pasadena. Schweizer notes that the fentanyl crisis is rampant in upscale Burbank where at least seven high school students had overdosed on the deadly synthetic opioid in 2022 alone. Now, schools in the Burbank Unified School District are required to carry naloxone in the event of overdoses. The effects in the city have been far-reaching.

“In 2022, two men were arrested in Burbank with a hundred thousand counterfeit oxycodone pills laced with fentanyl,” Schweizer notes. “Nineteen-year-old TikTok influencer Cooper Noriega was found dead in a Burbank park with fentanyl in his system.”

Moreover, the Los Angeles area saw fentanyl deaths skyrocket “by a stunning 1,208 percent from 2016 to 2022,” Schweizer reports.

However, during Schiff’s tenure as House Intelligence chair during the 116th and 117th Congresses, the committee “did nothing” to address the issue of fentanyl, according to Blood Money.

“If you go to the Intelligence Committee’s webpage that describes its work under his tenure, the word ‘fentanyl’ yields no results,” Schweizer reveals. “That is to say, the Intelligence Committee under his leadership, by its own account, did nothing on a topic that the Obama administration had declared a threat to our national security in 2017. A search of Schiff’s congressional webpage yields a lone mention of ‘fentanyl,’ a brief reference to a single piece of legislation.”

“Voters in his district have noticed the silence,” Blood Money states. Conversely, the bestselling author, who has repeatedly exposed corruption at the uppermost echelons of society, emphasizes that “Schiff was outspoken on the far, far less dangerous outbreak of monkeypox, demanding more action on a vaccine, even though it has killed no one in the United States at the time of this writing.”

The latest data available from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) shows that a reported 73,686 overdose deaths from synthetic opioids alone occurred in the United States between September 2022 to September 2023. The figure excludes deaths from methadone.

“Why Congressman Schiff has little to say about the deadly fentanyl crisis is an abiding mystery,” Schweizer writes. “Part of the reason may be that raising the issue might cause undue attention to his financial connections to individuals involved with criminal networks in Southern California, many of whom are tied to money laundering and the drug trade.”

Allied Wallet –  a “sketchy firm” that “was tied to money laundering, with a major footprint in China” – made one of the top donations to a joint fundraising committee that Schiff established with then-Sen Barbara Boxer (D-CA) in 2017 called PAC for a Change, Schweizer alleges. The $95,000 contribution from the company – which “made money processing credit card payments” for clients described as “‘high risk’ online retailers that traditional financial institutions avoid” – was followed by donations from individual company executives to Schiff’s Congressional campaign, according Schweizer’s Blood Money. One donation came from the company’s head, Andy Khawaja, a dual U.S. and Lebanon citizen who would be embroiled in a federal investigation.

“Schiff’s congressional campaign took in at least $36,000 in donations from executives at Allied Wallet,” Schweizer notes. “Another $16,100 came from Khawaja, and two additional $10,000 contributions came from two other executives of the company. While Schiff was accepting those donations, it was publicly known that Allied Wallet had been under FBI investigation. It was not the first time: in 2010, Allied Wallet had been forced by federal authorities to forfeit $13 million for its involvement in an illegal gambling scheme.”

Schweizer states that Khawaja was seeking “political access,” and with Schiff, he “clearly gained” it.

“At the time Schiff accepted donations from the executives, the company was being investigated for its ties to ‘illegal pharma’ companies around the world. Khawaja threw a lot of money around, clearly in search of political access,” Schweizer writes. “During the 2016 presidential campaign, he first backed Hillary Clinton and then switched to Donald Trump. In the case of Schiff, he clearly gained access. On October 16, 2016, Khawaja and Schiff sat down for a private meeting with Saudi prince Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud in Beverly Hills.”

Moreover, according to Blood Money, China UnionPay – a Chinese state-owned company through which triads launder money – and Allied Wallet had a partnership.

China UnionPay, “a card brand that ‘is often seen as an arm of Chinese state policy,’” has “close ties to the CCP,” Schweizer reports. “UnionPay has been used by organized crime groups and drug traffickers all around the world, including the Chinese triads. Allied Wallet seemed to function ‘as a sort of credit card processor for fraudsters, swindlers, and rip-off artists bilking the public out of more than $100 million.'”

Schweizer also points out that Democrat mega-donor Ed Buck – who was convicted of two counts of distribution of controlled substances resulting in death in 2022, as Breitbart News reported – was another donor to Schiff’s campaign and was also “a social acquaintance” of the representative.

Furthermore, a “Schiff booster” and lawyer named Arthur Charchian, “the head of the Southern California Armenian Democrats,” was implicated in a money laundering scheme, according to Blood Money.

“Shortly after Schiff introduced legislation on the Armenian genocide, another Armenian, gang leader Pogos Satamyan, donated $10,000 to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee,” Schweizer adds.

“Openly pressing for aggressive action to deal with the Chinese-linked fentanyl networks might lead to open discussions of money-laundering networks operating in the United States and raise some difficult questions for Schiff,” Schweizer argues.

Other big donors include major Hollywood names who enjoy profits from the Chinese market. Jeffrey Katzenberg and Steven Spielberg are both longtime Schiff supporters, Schweizer points out.

Organized crime has long been prevalent in what is now the 30th Congressional District, and Armenian gangs started to grow there in the 1990s, according to reporting at the time, Blood Money notes. Schiff served as a California state senator before being elected to Congress in 2000. Schweizer writes that “some” of Schiff’s work in the California state senate “fueled financial crimes in his district.”

“One bill related to Medi-Cal created a gateway for considerable fraud, which an organized crime syndicate in his district seized upon, perpetuating the largest Medicaid fraud case in history at the time. California business leaders warned Schiff about the fraud they were witnessing, but he appears to have ignored it,” Schweizer writes. “In 2010, four hundred FBI agents executed a massive investigation and arrested seventy Armenian mobsters. The criminals ran 118 phantom clinics, many of them in Schiff’s district. The ringleader, Armen Kazarian, lived in Schiff’s district.”

In 2005, as the Armenian organized crime foothold in southern California continued to expand several years, after Schiff punched his ticket to Washington, DC, he voted against legislation in the U.S. House that would have further empowered the federal government to combat “gang violence by creating ‘an antiracketeering statute similar to the one used against the Mafia dons to prosecute criminal street gangs,’” Schweizer writes.

Brutal: Republican Steve Garvey pulls ahead of Democrat Adam Schiff in California Senate race poll

Looks like Adam Schiff's big-dollar campaign of weirdly nice attack ads against Republican Steve Garvey in the California Senate race is not quite having the effect he thought it would have.

According to a left-leaning poll from the Los Angeles Times and UC Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies, seen on RealClearPolitics:

In the primary, Garvey is favored by 27% of likely voters, Schiff 25% and Porter 19%. Rep. Barbara Lee (D-Oakland) garners 8%, while 12% of likely voters pick a different candidate and 9% are undecided.

 That's right: Garvey is now ahead of Schiff in a year when President Trump is leading all polls.

So Schiff's campaign to knock Democrat rival, Katie Porter, out of the top-two-on-the-ballot in November setup isn't working. Schiff put out television ads and mailers breathlessly saying Garvey voted for Trump twice, favors the border wall, and is "too conservative for California" to get Republicans to knock his Democrat rival out of the race. However, that may be working just a little too well, with Garvey now pulling ahead of Schiff in the multi-candidate race.

A poll like this looks like the campaign may have shot itself in the foot.

Sure, it seems to be an old California blue-state machine-politics trick for the top leftist to goose the Republican vote now that the election setup is to hold an open primary and then put the top two vote-getters onto the November ballot.

My own congresswoman, Qualcomm billionaire heiress Sara Jacobs, has been accused of this cynical election maneuver in San Diego back when she was first elected in 2020, apparently boosting the Republican candidate on the sly in a bid to get him into the second-place slot to sideline her other Democrat rivals and scarf up all Democrat votes, preventing a split. It didn't work because the Republican wasn't trying very hard to win, so the other Democrat, Georgette Gomez, ended up on the ballot anyway at the final vote. Jacobs won anyway, and I wrote about that here. 

Gomez, though, wasn't done, and she filed an FEC complaint saying the pro-GOP mailers didn't say who they came from, amounting to illicit campaign spending of some kind. I have not found the result of that complaint, but in this matter, Schiff avoided that little issue by not hiding anything.

Here is my mailer from Schiff telling me, a registered Republican, that Garvey is "too conservative for California."

Apparently, Schiff thinks Republican voters are stupid and won't see the cynicism of what's going on. Like Eddie Haskell, he'd like them to know, Mrs. Cleaver, that Garvey is rising in the polls, and he's just too conservative for California, which, between us, he can't be because it's not allowed.

Of course, he wants to goose Republican turnout.

It's just that that's a risky game when jackasses play it. He must be counting on all the Californians who fled his state to propel him into certain victory with the remaining blue voters.

But in the Jacobs case, the GOP candidate only managed to get 10% of the vote. This 27% that Garvey has -- coming from a leftwing pollster and a much lower base in previous polls -- suggests Schiff may have motivated more Garvey support than he meant to. There is no way he would like to see polls with this much rocketing support for Garvey (topping even his own) with such a poll.

I won't say it won't work at this point, given that Schiff's vote is divided between many leftist candidates who are likely to pick Schiff over Garvey if those two emerge as the top two in November. But stranger things have happened in politics and this may be a wave year for President Trump. Could the unwaveringly pro-Trump Garvey ride those coattails as Democrats stay home, not wanting to give their votes to senile Joe Biden?

It's possible because anything is possible at this point. Schiff may be in the comeuppance of his life now that Garvey's voters now top his, and they haven't stopped rising.

Since 1965, Democrats Have Exploited Immigration For Political Power

John F. Kennedy coined the term “a nation of immigrants” for his 1958 book of the same name. Kennedy was proud of the immigrants who built the most prosperous nation on earth. He wanted more of the same, as do all Americans.

But that’s not what Americans are getting. Instead, they’re getting a government that’s been manipulating immigration policies for over half a century to maintain political power. In the process, they are undermining a foundation that turned a fledgling nation into a global power in less than 150 years.

Democrat policies (aided by Republicans) have encouraged millions of, at best, loosely vetted immigrants to live in America. They’ve simultaneously dismissed the importance of good moral character and the need to integrate immigrants by having them adopt American values. No wonder so almost 90% of Americans believe that uncontrolled illegal immigration is a threat to America.

Biden and his Cuban émigré Homeland Security Secretary, Alejandro Mayorkas, excuse the crisis by invoking Kennedy’s “nation of immigrants” term and insisting that the problem isn’t because of their policies. The system, they say, has been broken for decades. That’s rich. In fact, they follow a long tradition of corrupt Democrat politicians who, since the 1960s, have been selling America’s soul for political gain and fame while outrageously presenting their actions as humanitarian.

JFK celebrated America’s diverse European immigrants. They wanted nothing from America but a chance to improve their lives and build a great country. And that’s what they got and what they did. Hundreds of thousands of wannabe immigrants were turned away or later deported because they were likely public charges—and Americans applauded.

After World War II, Americans were happy with immigrants who worked hard, were self-reliant, law abiding, valued education, and learned or spoke English. Like Kennedy, they wanted immigrants to integrate—to become Americans by adopting America’s values, just as they had. That formula still works, as we’ve seen with the waves of Asian and East Asian Indians who have embraced America’s values and thrived.

As the descendant of Irish Catholic immigrants, JFK knew first-hand that when Irish Catholics integrated as Americans, the sky was the limit. However, his successor, Lyndon Baines Johnson, didn’t care if immigrants integrated by adopting American values. LBJ saw unintegrated immigrants as the ticket to Democrats controlling the government forever.

The Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) of 1965 made America an all-comers nation. People from countries that hate or love America—along with those who love or hate Jews, Christians, blacks, whites, or Asians—were all welcome. At the act’s signing, LBJ said the Act “does not affect the lives of millions.”

That promise didn’t age well, but it was not because the Act made America the world’s most “diverse” nation. America had already demonstrated that it had a formula to dispel the conflict inherent in increased diversity. The problem with the act was that LBJ supported torching the idea that immigrants must be integrated through adopting American values.

There’s a body of research (see here and here), including the rocky history of diversity in America before people figured out that newcomers needed to be educated in America’s common values, that true integration is the only way to resolve ethnic, racial, and religious discrimination. And only in that way can both immigrants and the host countries succeed. Democratic leaders, however, framed integration as hegemonic and attracted new immigrants to their party by saying that, once in America, they didn’t actually need to become Americans.

Because so many new immigrants were non-English speakers, English was the first American value to go. Indeed, by producing everything from product information to voter information in Spanish, Latinos lost their motivation to learn English. “Immigrants from Mexico have the lowest rates of English proficiency (34%), followed by those from Central America (35%).” Many of those who speak only Spanish have lived in the United States for more than 20 years.

Next on the chopping block were the values of self-reliance, working hard, and valuing education. To complement an all-comers immigration policy, LBJ introduced an all-comers welfare policy that allowed immigrants to be eligible for welfare virtually on arrival.

There were foreseeable outcomes for an immigration policy that had no expectations about speaking the English language, working hard, valuing education, or being self-reliant, which is that immigrants failed to thrive. Then, they complained about discrimination, allowing Democrats to contend that the problem was racist Republicans.

That finger-pointing hid the fact that all immigrants to America faced discrimination until they earned respect as Americans by adopting the values of their new homeland. If Democrats admitted this truth, they would run the risk of immigrants integrating, seeing the American dream within reach, and gravitating toward Republicans.

In the 1980s, President Carter, through the Refugee Act of 1980, put in place another piece of legislation that could facilitate a strategy to ensure permanent Democrat control over the government. He made it possible for a future president to permit an unlimited number of loosely vetted refugees from failing nations to become naturalized American citizens. An accompanying refugee resettlement package made it possible for them to dismiss adopting American values, too.

Things in America would have been different if Kennedy’s vision, enshrined in 1958’s A Nation of Immigrants, had remained America’s official policy. However, the intensely political Lyndon Johnson didn’t see immigrants as people yearning to succeed in a free country. Instead, he saw them as the ticket to the Democrats gaining permanent control over the federal government, and a central part of this strategy was to negate any legal or cultural press to have immigrants adopt American values.

Richard Nixon didn’t realize the scope of the problem and focused no energy on the issue. That left the field open for Carter to facilitate Johnson’s strategy—and of course, Reagan was bamboozled into accepting amnesty.

Thanks to these deliberate Democrat policies, America went from being a shining city on a hill to being the world’s largest permanent refugee camp. And that is the foundation on which Biden and Mayorkas are operating as they have implemented one immigrant-related policy after another, all to bring to America those millions of loosely vetted, unintegrated, twilight immigrants to our shores.

Fentanyl is a “Chinese operation much more than it is a Mexican drug cartel operation,” Peter Schweizer, author of Blood Money: Why the Powerful Turn a Blind Eye While China Kills Americans, said during an appearance on Breitbart News Saturday.

Schweizer, president of the Government Accountability Institute (GAI) and senior contributor at Breitbart News, explained how the Chinese are using fentanyl as a weapon against the United States.

“A lot of the people involved in the fentanyl trade actually have senior positions in the CCP [Chinese Communist Party] or they’re advisers to the CCP government, but the links in this chain of fentanyl that is poisoning 100,000 Americans, every link in that chain is a Chinese operation,” Schweizer said, explaining that the Mexican cartels are “really the junior partners.”

“We all know the precursors come from China,” Schweizer said, explaining that we have been unable to stop the precursors because the International Terminal in Manzanillo in Mexico is “actually run by a Chinese company that’s very close to the Chinese state,” he said, explaining that those precursors “come into the port of Manzanillo” and are “moved to a town in northern Mexico where, according to leaked documents from the Department of Homeland Security that I obtained, 2,000 Chinese nationals essentially operate as chemists.”

In other words, these Chinese nationals are on our border doing it in our backyard. It does not end there, either, because the Chinese are selling pill presses to the Mexican cartels “at cost,” and the cartels are using communication devices and apps that are Chinese “because they know that the Chinese will not share those communications with U.S. law enforcement,” Schweizer said.

“And then the final part of the puzzle is you’re a Mexican cartel. You’re selling drugs. You’ve got all this cash you’re making selling this poison in America. You need to launder your money. Well, it used to be that they laundered their money in Latin American banks when they were selling cocaine and other drugs like that. Now with the fentanyl, they are actually laundering the money in Chinese state-owned banks. And, according to our law enforcement, they use Chinese students in the United States on education visas to actually launder the money in those banks,” Schweizer said.

“So this is a Chinese operation much more than it is a Mexican drug cartel operation,” he added.

When asked why leaders in D.C., including President Joe Biden, are not doing anything about this, Schweizer said some politicians simply want to get along. They know that if they actually look at what is happening, it changes the entire relationship with China, and they do not want to do the heavy lift. But with Biden, Schweizer said, it is much more “personal.”

“In the case of Joe Biden, it’s much more personal and I think is related to the financial ties that his family has, not just to the Chinese, but to actual individuals that are on the outer fringes of the drug trade. So I’ll give you a specific example,” he said,  explaining that the reason that so much of this flows through Mexico is the Sinaloa Cartel.

“They are the kings of fentanyl. They’re the ones that are responsible for most of this stuff coming in the United States. There’s a Chinese criminal gang called UBG,” headed by a man known as “White Wolf,” Schweizer continued.

“White Wolf” has a business partner who sent $5 million to the Bidens in 2017.

“Of course, it’s never been paid back. And this is all well-documented. Nobody disputes this. What is new — the new piece of the puzzle — is the link between this Chinese businessman who gave him the $5 million forgivable loan that they’ve never paid back and White Wolf. So this means that the first family of the United States, there is one degree of separation between the Biden family and those that are providing this poison in the United States,” he said, noting that other well-known individuals, including California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D), have links to Chinese organized crime.

Poll: Republican Steve Garvey Leads California Senate Race

Former baseball player Steve Garvey leads the race for U.S. Senate from California ahead of the March 5 primary, beating Rep. Adam Schiff (D), according to the University of California Berkeley Institute of Government Studies poll.

However, the news is not necessarily good for Republicans: if Garvey is one of the top two finishers in the primary, along with Schiff, the heavy Democratic advantage in the state means that Schiff will likely be the next U.S. Senator.

The poll, which was conducted online February 22-27 among thousands of registered and likely voters, has a margin of error of 2% at the 95% confidence level. It shows Garvey with 27%, ahead of Schiff with 25% (a statistical tie for first). Rep. Katie Porter (D-CA) has 19%, while Rep. Barbara Lee (D-CA) has 8%, shaping up the race as a Garvey-Schiff runoff.

(The poll also shows Donald Trump beating Nikki Haley in the state’s Republican primary, 75% to 15%.)

The reason for Garvey’s rise, the Los Angeles Times notes, is not a surge in Republican enthusiasm, but rather a heavy advertising campaign by Schiff, who has cast the race as a contest between two candidates from rival parties, knowing that a Republican candidate will be easier to beat than a Democrat — especially a female Democrat, as all of his main Democratic rivals are women.

Ads have blanketed the state attacking Garvey for voting for Trump and backing other conservative policies — which has rallied Republican voters to Garvey, even while also rallying Democrats to Schiff.

Schiff is best known for leading the efforts to accuse Trump, falsely, of “collusion” with Russia, and to impeach Trump in 2019-2020.

He faces new criticism in Peter Schweizer’s new book Blood Money: Why the Powerful Turn a Blind Eye While China Kills Americans. over his silence over the fentanyl crisis, which may have to do with donors who have “financial connections to individuals involved with criminal networks … tied to money laundering and the drug trade.”

‘Blood Money’: Meet Adam Schiff, Who Looks Away from the Deadly Fentanyl Crisis in His Backyard While Taking Donations from Money Laundering Operators Tied to the Drug Trade

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), who has been strikingly absent from the national fentanyl conversation, has “financial connections to individuals involved with criminal networks in Southern California, many of whom are tied to money laundering and the drug trade,” according to Peter Schweizer’s new book Blood Money: Why the Powerful Turn a Blind Eye While China Kills Americans.

In Blood Money, Schweizer highlights Schiff’s astonishingly empty record regarding the fentanyl crisis before suggesting that the congressman could potentially risk “undue attention to his own financial” ties if he were to address the issue meaningfully.

Schiff, who is running for U.S. Senate, represents California’s 30th Congressional District, which includes Burbank, Hollywood, Glendale, and Pasadena. Schweizer notes that the fentanyl crisis is rampant in upscale Burbank where at least seven high school students had overdosed on the deadly synthetic opioid in 2022 alone. Now, schools in the Burbank Unified School District are required to carry naloxone in the event of overdoses. The effects in the city have been far-reaching.

“In 2022, two men were arrested in Burbank with a hundred thousand counterfeit oxycodone pills laced with fentanyl,” Schweizer notes. “Nineteen-year-old TikTok influencer Cooper Noriega was found dead in a Burbank park with fentanyl in his system.”

Moreover, the Los Angeles area saw fentanyl deaths skyrocket “by a stunning 1,208 percent from 2016 to 2022,” Schweizer reports.

However, during Schiff’s tenure as House Intelligence chair during the 116th and 117th Congresses, the committee “did nothing” to address the issue of fentanyl, according to Blood Money.

“If you go to the Intelligence Committee’s webpage that describes its work under his tenure, the word ‘fentanyl’ yields no results,” Schweizer reveals. “That is to say, the Intelligence Committee under his leadership, by its own account, did nothing on a topic that the Obama administration had declared a threat to our national security in 2017. A search of Schiff’s congressional webpage yields a lone mention of ‘fentanyl,’ a brief reference to a single piece of legislation.”

“Voters in his district have noticed the silence,” Blood Money states. Conversely, the bestselling author, who has repeatedly exposed corruption at the uppermost echelons of society, emphasizes that “Schiff was outspoken on the far, far less dangerous outbreak of monkeypox, demanding more action on a vaccine, even though it has killed no one in the United States at the time of this writing.”

The latest data available from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) shows that a reported 73,686 overdose deaths from synthetic opioids alone occurred in the United States between September 2022 to September 2023. The figure excludes deaths from methadone.

“Why Congressman Schiff has little to say about the deadly fentanyl crisis is an abiding mystery,” Schweizer writes. “Part of the reason may be that raising the issue might cause undue attention to his financial connections to individuals involved with criminal networks in Southern California, many of whom are tied to money laundering and the drug trade.”

Allied Wallet –  a “sketchy firm” that “was tied to money laundering, with a major footprint in China” – made one of the top donations to a joint fundraising committee that Schiff established with then-Sen Barbara Boxer (D-CA) in 2017 called PAC for a Change, Schweizer alleges. The $95,000 contribution from the company – which “made money processing credit card payments” for clients described as “‘high risk’ online retailers that traditional financial institutions avoid” – was followed by donations from individual company executives to Schiff’s Congressional campaign, according Schweizer’s Blood Money. One donation came from the company’s head, Andy Khawaja, a dual U.S. and Lebanon citizen who would be embroiled in a federal investigation.

“Schiff’s congressional campaign took in at least $36,000 in donations from executives at Allied Wallet,” Schweizer notes. “Another $16,100 came from Khawaja, and two additional $10,000 contributions came from two other executives of the company. While Schiff was accepting those donations, it was publicly known that Allied Wallet had been under FBI investigation. It was not the first time: in 2010, Allied Wallet had been forced by federal authorities to forfeit $13 million for its involvement in an illegal gambling scheme.”

Schweizer states that Khawaja was seeking “political access,” and with Schiff, he “clearly gained” it.

“At the time Schiff accepted donations from the executives, the company was being investigated for its ties to ‘illegal pharma’ companies around the world. Khawaja threw a lot of money around, clearly in search of political access,” Schweizer writes. “During the 2016 presidential campaign, he first backed Hillary Clinton and then switched to Donald Trump. In the case of Schiff, he clearly gained access. On October 16, 2016, Khawaja and Schiff sat down for a private meeting with Saudi prince Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud in Beverly Hills.”

Moreover, according to Blood Money, China UnionPay – a Chinese state-owned company through which triads launder money – and Allied Wallet had a partnership.

China UnionPay, “a card brand that ‘is often seen as an arm of Chinese state policy,’” has “close ties to the CCP,” Schweizer reports. “UnionPay has been used by organized crime groups and drug traffickers all around the world, including the Chinese triads. Allied Wallet seemed to function ‘as a sort of credit card processor for fraudsters, swindlers, and rip-off artists bilking the public out of more than $100 million.'”

Schweizer also points out that Democrat mega-donor Ed Buck – who was convicted of two counts of distribution of controlled substances resulting in death in 2022, as Breitbart News reported – was another donor to Schiff’s campaign and was also “a social acquaintance” of the representative.

Furthermore, a “Schiff booster” and lawyer named Arthur Charchian, “the head of the Southern California Armenian Democrats,” was implicated in a money laundering scheme, according to Blood Money.

“Shortly after Schiff introduced legislation on the Armenian genocide, another Armenian, gang leader Pogos Satamyan, donated $10,000 to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee,” Schweizer adds.

“Openly pressing for aggressive action to deal with the Chinese-linked fentanyl networks might lead to open discussions of money-laundering networks operating in the United States and raise some difficult questions for Schiff,” Schweizer argues.

Other big donors include major Hollywood names who enjoy profits from the Chinese market. Jeffrey Katzenberg and Steven Spielberg are both longtime Schiff supporters, Schweizer points out.

Organized crime has long been prevalent in what is now the 30th Congressional District, and Armenian gangs started to grow there in the 1990s, according to reporting at the time, Blood Money notes. Schiff served as a California state senator before being elected to Congress in 2000. Schweizer writes that “some” of Schiff’s work in the California state senate “fueled financial crimes in his district.”

“One bill related to Medi-Cal created a gateway for considerable fraud, which an organized crime syndicate in his district seized upon, perpetuating the largest Medicaid fraud case in history at the time. California business leaders warned Schiff about the fraud they were witnessing, but he appears to have ignored it,” Schweizer writes. “In 2010, four hundred FBI agents executed a massive investigation and arrested seventy Armenian mobsters. The criminals ran 118 phantom clinics, many of them in Schiff’s district. The ringleader, Armen Kazarian, lived in Schiff’s district.”

In 2005, as the Armenian organized crime foothold in southern California continued to expand several years, after Schiff punched his ticket to Washington, DC, he voted against legislation in the U.S. House that would have further empowered the federal government to combat “gang violence by creating ‘an antiracketeering statute similar to the one used against the Mafia dons to prosecute criminal street gangs,’” Schweizer writes.

Brutal: Republican Steve Garvey pulls ahead of Democrat Adam Schiff in California Senate race poll

Looks like Adam Schiff's big-dollar campaign of weirdly nice attack ads against Republican Steve Garvey in the California Senate race is not quite having the effect he thought it would have.

According to a left-leaning poll from the Los Angeles Times and UC Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies, seen on RealClearPolitics:

In the primary, Garvey is favored by 27% of likely voters, Schiff 25% and Porter 19%. Rep. Barbara Lee (D-Oakland) garners 8%, while 12% of likely voters pick a different candidate and 9% are undecided.

 That's right: Garvey is now ahead of Schiff in a year when President Trump is leading all polls.

So Schiff's campaign to knock Democrat rival, Katie Porter, out of the top-two-on-the-ballot in November setup isn't working. Schiff put out television ads and mailers breathlessly saying Garvey voted for Trump twice, favors the border wall, and is "too conservative for California" to get Republicans to knock his Democrat rival out of the race. However, that may be working just a little too well, with Garvey now pulling ahead of Schiff in the multi-candidate race.

A poll like this looks like the campaign may have shot itself in the foot.

Sure, it seems to be an old California blue-state machine-politics trick for the top leftist to goose the Republican vote now that the election setup is to hold an open primary and then put the top two vote-getters onto the November ballot.

My own congresswoman, Qualcomm billionaire heiress Sara Jacobs, has been accused of this cynical election maneuver in San Diego back when she was first elected in 2020, apparently boosting the Republican candidate on the sly in a bid to get him into the second-place slot to sideline her other Democrat rivals and scarf up all Democrat votes, preventing a split. It didn't work because the Republican wasn't trying very hard to win, so the other Democrat, Georgette Gomez, ended up on the ballot anyway at the final vote. Jacobs won anyway, and I wrote about that here. 

Gomez, though, wasn't done, and she filed an FEC complaint saying the pro-GOP mailers didn't say who they came from, amounting to illicit campaign spending of some kind. I have not found the result of that complaint, but in this matter, Schiff avoided that little issue by not hiding anything.

Here is my mailer from Schiff telling me, a registered Republican, that Garvey is "too conservative for California."

Apparently, Schiff thinks Republican voters are stupid and won't see the cynicism of what's going on. Like Eddie Haskell, he'd like them to know, Mrs. Cleaver, that Garvey is rising in the polls, and he's just too conservative for California, which, between us, he can't be because it's not allowed.

Of course, he wants to goose Republican turnout.

It's just that that's a risky game when jackasses play it. He must be counting on all the Californians who fled his state to propel him into certain victory with the remaining blue voters.

But in the Jacobs case, the GOP candidate only managed to get 10% of the vote. This 27% that Garvey has -- coming from a leftwing pollster and a much lower base in previous polls -- suggests Schiff may have motivated more Garvey support than he meant to. There is no way he would like to see polls with this much rocketing support for Garvey (topping even his own) with such a poll.

I won't say it won't work at this point, given that Schiff's vote is divided between many leftist candidates who are likely to pick Schiff over Garvey if those two emerge as the top two in November. But stranger things have happened in politics and this may be a wave year for President Trump. Could the unwaveringly pro-Trump Garvey ride those coattails as Democrats stay home, not wanting to give their votes to senile Joe Biden?

It's possible because anything is possible at this point. Schiff may be in the comeuppance of his life now that Garvey's voters now top his, and they haven't stopped rising.

Since 1965, Democrats Have Exploited Immigration For Political Power

John F. Kennedy coined the term “a nation of immigrants” for his 1958 book of the same name. Kennedy was proud of the immigrants who built the most prosperous nation on earth. He wanted more of the same, as do all Americans.

But that’s not what Americans are getting. Instead, they’re getting a government that’s been manipulating immigration policies for over half a century to maintain political power. In the process, they are undermining a foundation that turned a fledgling nation into a global power in less than 150 years.

Democrat policies (aided by Republicans) have encouraged millions of, at best, loosely vetted immigrants to live in America. They’ve simultaneously dismissed the importance of good moral character and the need to integrate immigrants by having them adopt American values. No wonder so almost 90% of Americans believe that uncontrolled illegal immigration is a threat to America.

Biden and his Cuban émigré Homeland Security Secretary, Alejandro Mayorkas, excuse the crisis by invoking Kennedy’s “nation of immigrants” term and insisting that the problem isn’t because of their policies. The system, they say, has been broken for decades. That’s rich. In fact, they follow a long tradition of corrupt Democrat politicians who, since the 1960s, have been selling America’s soul for political gain and fame while outrageously presenting their actions as humanitarian.

JFK celebrated America’s diverse European immigrants. They wanted nothing from America but a chance to improve their lives and build a great country. And that’s what they got and what they did. Hundreds of thousands of wannabe immigrants were turned away or later deported because they were likely public charges—and Americans applauded.

After World War II, Americans were happy with immigrants who worked hard, were self-reliant, law abiding, valued education, and learned or spoke English. Like Kennedy, they wanted immigrants to integrate—to become Americans by adopting America’s values, just as they had. That formula still works, as we’ve seen with the waves of Asian and East Asian Indians who have embraced America’s values and thrived.

As the descendant of Irish Catholic immigrants, JFK knew first-hand that when Irish Catholics integrated as Americans, the sky was the limit. However, his successor, Lyndon Baines Johnson, didn’t care if immigrants integrated by adopting American values. LBJ saw unintegrated immigrants as the ticket to Democrats controlling the government forever.

The Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) of 1965 made America an all-comers nation. People from countries that hate or love America—along with those who love or hate Jews, Christians, blacks, whites, or Asians—were all welcome. At the act’s signing, LBJ said the Act “does not affect the lives of millions.”

That promise didn’t age well, but it was not because the Act made America the world’s most “diverse” nation. America had already demonstrated that it had a formula to dispel the conflict inherent in increased diversity. The problem with the act was that LBJ supported torching the idea that immigrants must be integrated through adopting American values.

There’s a body of research (see here and here), including the rocky history of diversity in America before people figured out that newcomers needed to be educated in America’s common values, that true integration is the only way to resolve ethnic, racial, and religious discrimination. And only in that way can both immigrants and the host countries succeed. Democratic leaders, however, framed integration as hegemonic and attracted new immigrants to their party by saying that, once in America, they didn’t actually need to become Americans.

Because so many new immigrants were non-English speakers, English was the first American value to go. Indeed, by producing everything from product information to voter information in Spanish, Latinos lost their motivation to learn English. “Immigrants from Mexico have the lowest rates of English proficiency (34%), followed by those from Central America (35%).” Many of those who speak only Spanish have lived in the United States for more than 20 years.

Next on the chopping block were the values of self-reliance, working hard, and valuing education. To complement an all-comers immigration policy, LBJ introduced an all-comers welfare policy that allowed immigrants to be eligible for welfare virtually on arrival.

There were foreseeable outcomes for an immigration policy that had no expectations about speaking the English language, working hard, valuing education, or being self-reliant, which is that immigrants failed to thrive. Then, they complained about discrimination, allowing Democrats to contend that the problem was racist Republicans.

That finger-pointing hid the fact that all immigrants to America faced discrimination until they earned respect as Americans by adopting the values of their new homeland. If Democrats admitted this truth, they would run the risk of immigrants integrating, seeing the American dream within reach, and gravitating toward Republicans.

In the 1980s, President Carter, through the Refugee Act of 1980, put in place another piece of legislation that could facilitate a strategy to ensure permanent Democrat control over the government. He made it possible for a future president to permit an unlimited number of loosely vetted refugees from failing nations to become naturalized American citizens. An accompanying refugee resettlement package made it possible for them to dismiss adopting American values, too.

Things in America would have been different if Kennedy’s vision, enshrined in 1958’s A Nation of Immigrants, had remained America’s official policy. However, the intensely political Lyndon Johnson didn’t see immigrants as people yearning to succeed in a free country. Instead, he saw them as the ticket to the Democrats gaining permanent control over the federal government, and a central part of this strategy was to negate any legal or cultural press to have immigrants adopt American values.

Richard Nixon didn’t realize the scope of the problem and focused no energy on the issue. That left the field open for Carter to facilitate Johnson’s strategy—and of course, Reagan was bamboozled into accepting amnesty.

Thanks to these deliberate Democrat policies, America went from being a shining city on a hill to being the world’s largest permanent refugee camp. And that is the foundation on which Biden and Mayorkas are operating as they have implemented one immigrant-related policy after another, all to bring to America those millions of loosely vetted, unintegrated, twilight immigrants to our shores.

Fentanyl is a “Chinese operation much more than it is a Mexican drug cartel operation,” Peter Schweizer, author of Blood Money: Why the Powerful Turn a Blind Eye While China Kills Americans, said during an appearance on Breitbart News Saturday.

Schweizer, president of the Government Accountability Institute (GAI) and senior contributor at Breitbart News, explained how the Chinese are using fentanyl as a weapon against the United States.

“A lot of the people involved in the fentanyl trade actually have senior positions in the CCP [Chinese Communist Party] or they’re advisers to the CCP government, but the links in this chain of fentanyl that is poisoning 100,000 Americans, every link in that chain is a Chinese operation,” Schweizer said, explaining that the Mexican cartels are “really the junior partners.”

“We all know the precursors come from China,” Schweizer said, explaining that we have been unable to stop the precursors because the International Terminal in Manzanillo in Mexico is “actually run by a Chinese company that’s very close to the Chinese state,” he said, explaining that those precursors “come into the port of Manzanillo” and are “moved to a town in northern Mexico where, according to leaked documents from the Department of Homeland Security that I obtained, 2,000 Chinese nationals essentially operate as chemists.”

In other words, these Chinese nationals are on our border doing it in our backyard. It does not end there, either, because the Chinese are selling pill presses to the Mexican cartels “at cost,” and the cartels are using communication devices and apps that are Chinese “because they know that the Chinese will not share those communications with U.S. law enforcement,” Schweizer said.

“And then the final part of the puzzle is you’re a Mexican cartel. You’re selling drugs. You’ve got all this cash you’re making selling this poison in America. You need to launder your money. Well, it used to be that they laundered their money in Latin American banks when they were selling cocaine and other drugs like that. Now with the fentanyl, they are actually laundering the money in Chinese state-owned banks. And, according to our law enforcement, they use Chinese students in the United States on education visas to actually launder the money in those banks,” Schweizer said.

“So this is a Chinese operation much more than it is a Mexican drug cartel operation,” he added.

When asked why leaders in D.C., including President Joe Biden, are not doing anything about this, Schweizer said some politicians simply want to get along. They know that if they actually look at what is happening, it changes the entire relationship with China, and they do not want to do the heavy lift. But with Biden, Schweizer said, it is much more “personal.”

“In the case of Joe Biden, it’s much more personal and I think is related to the financial ties that his family has, not just to the Chinese, but to actual individuals that are on the outer fringes of the drug trade. So I’ll give you a specific example,” he said,  explaining that the reason that so much of this flows through Mexico is the Sinaloa Cartel.

“They are the kings of fentanyl. They’re the ones that are responsible for most of this stuff coming in the United States. There’s a Chinese criminal gang called UBG,” headed by a man known as “White Wolf,” Schweizer continued.

“White Wolf” has a business partner who sent $5 million to the Bidens in 2017.

“Of course, it’s never been paid back. And this is all well-documented. Nobody disputes this. What is new — the new piece of the puzzle — is the link between this Chinese businessman who gave him the $5 million forgivable loan that they’ve never paid back and White Wolf. So this means that the first family of the United States, there is one degree of separation between the Biden family and those that are providing this poison in the United States,” he said, noting that other well-known individuals, including California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D), have links to Chinese organized crime.
